Randy and his girlfriend Lauren both applied for a year-long environmental activism program in Costa Rica - but only Lauren was accepted. Randy is heartbroken to be separated from his lady love, until a surprise phone call reveals that a spot has opened up in the program and he can go to the jungle after all. Jill is shocked and terrified at the thought of her son disappearing to Central America for the next 12 months, which prompts Tim to tell Randy he should stay in Michigan so his Mom won't be sad. Randy is furious, and with a little help from Wilson, Tim realizes that his advice to Randy was prompted by his own unresolved feelings about the boy's departure.
