As an anniversary gift, Tim (Tim Allen) decides to take ballroom dancing lessons with Jill (Patricia Richardson). But when Tim's boorish behavior in class winds up severely injuring their instructor, Jill is furious that Tim can't take anything she likes seriously. With some help from Wilson (Earl Hindman), Tim learns how to dance and successfully sweeps Jill off her feet.
Meanwhile, Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Taran Noah Smith) play pranks with whip cream, and Tim receives a major award on Tool Time.
