Jill is looking forward to a relaxing week off of school. When her father calls and tries to plan a trip up to Michigan to visit that week, she lies and claims to be sick so she can have the time for herself. Not long after, Jill’s father dies in his sleep. In Texas for the funeral, Jill’s grief is magnified by the fact that her last interaction with her father was based on a lie. When she finally confesses her shameful secret to her mother, she comforts her, reminding her that her father loved her to pieces and the last thing he’d want is for her to feel guilt over a little white lie.
